The National Cancer Action Team asked us to tender for a project to develop costing and national tariffs for radiotherapy services. We were delighted when the tender was awarded to us in December 2009.
The project involved meeting with all 49 NHS providers of radiotherapy services in England. Representatives from both service management and finance were interviewed. We discussed the issues they encountered in the costing of radiotherapy services and how a national tariff could be developed.
We distilled all the feedback we received into a comprehensive report that we published in July 2010 to NCAT, radiotherapy service providers and the Department of Health.
